IET implements its various projects using the Poverty scorecard to determine the project beneficiaries. The Poverty scorecard is administered through a survey is used to collect household data. The resulting information is then used to create a database and develop projects keeping the needs and aspirations of the beneficiaries foremost. Through this process those identified as Ultra poor and vulnerable poor are assisted to benefit from IET interventions which are based on the needs and requirements of the community, households and individuals. Following this process enables IET to collaborate with community institutions, community members and individuals to build a clear and wholistic picture of the needs for its targeted interventions and ensure the needs of all stakeholders are taken into consideration.
IET uses PPAF guidelines for Poverty Score Card survey.
Training and Empowerment
IET believes that training is an important component of any development initiative. All of IET’s programs consist of various activities designed to assist in community empowerment. IET imparts specialized trainings for community and individuals to enable them collectively resolve development issues, leading to organized and sustained development at the community level. Current established Training Programs include:
Training at the Village Organization (VO) level and Assistance in Development of Village Development Plan
In the development of the VO, the beneficiaries undergo a number of trainings.
The organizations are encouraged and assisted to form a Village Development Plan, which looks at issues present in the village and chalks out a future needs plan.
Training at the Local Support Organization (LSO) level and Assistance in Development of Union Council Development Plan
Selected community members are encouraged to undertake Change-maker training. These resource persons are trained to act as community champions and resolve community issues.
Facilitation of Stakeholder Consultation Meetings
For facilitation IET further arranges meeting for trainees with stakeholders from the education, health and infrastructure development. These meetings give trainees from the community the opportunities to voice their needs and get provisions made in the Financial Year Budget Allocation.
Exchange Internships for VO/LSO Staff
IET also arranges internships for staff members of VO and LSO in other organizations/offices in other Union Councils. These give them further exposure and experience.
